Join our Digital Wealth team where you will leverage your extensive technical knowledge and pragmatic approach to software design and architecture to delight our Wealth Advisor clients through our world class Wealth Management platform.
As a Digital Bank, software engineering is at the core of what we do.
Our engineers operate in an autonomous environment where they are empowered to "do it right" and continuously learn, becoming masters in their craft.
At Macquarie, our advantage is bringing together diverse people and empowering them to shape all kinds of possibilities.
We are a global financial services group operating in 31 markets and with 56 years of unbroken profitability.
You'll be part of a friendly and supportive team where everyone - no matter what role - contributes ideas and drives outcomes.
What role will you play?
As a strong staff engineer you will help tackle some of the most challenging problems in the bank.
Our team operates a flat organisational structure; this role is a blend of principal engineer, technical architect, and people manager.
You will be responsible for the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of the products and platforms owned by your teams.
In addition to technology ownership, you will play a key role in hiring and fostering the technical growth of the engineers on their teams.
Drawing on deep and broad technical expertise, you will be hands‐on in the code, solving technical problems, mentoring junior engineers, and providing leadership on complex technology issues across the company, while also spending your time building outstanding software by both directly coding and offering close technical direction and management to your teams.
What you offer
Robust technical background (preferably in Java) and computer science education or equivalent experience

Proven success leading complex engineering initiatives and working collaboratively in teams
Experience building scalable, maintainable, and performant web applications in an Agile product environment
Ability to communicate clearly across all levels of the organisation
Strong experience with hands‐on coding, system design, and code review across diverse services and platforms
Skilled at analyzing, simplifying, and optimizing complex processes; adept at researching and implementing emerging technologies
Experienced in leadership and mentorship, with the ability to foster high‐performing and psychologically safe engineering teams
Strong competence in maintaining code quality, rigorous testing practices, and robust security standards
Previous experience collaborating with product managers to align engineering initiatives with strategic business objectives
Expertise in application reliability, uptime management, and continuous improvement through incident response and post‐mortem analysis
We love hearing from anyone inspired to build a better future with us, if you're excited about the role or working at Macquarie we encourage you to apply.
