Work Health & Safety Manager
to lead and elevate our safety strategy across Australia and New Zealand.
This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of safety across a diverse multi-site organisation, partnering with senior leaders to build a culture where everyone goes home safe every day. Based within our Human Resources function and reporting to the General Manager – Human Resources, this role combines strategic leadership with hands‐on operational engagement across our businesses.
About the Role
As the Work Health & Safety Manager, you will be responsible for developing, implementing and continuously improving SMYA's Work Health & Safety Management System across all Australian and New Zealand operations. You will provide expert advice, governance and leadership to ensure legislative compliance while driving a proactive and engaged safety culture throughout the organisation.
Key areas of responsibility include:
Leading the WH&S; strategy and governance framework across the business
Maintaining and improving the organisation's WH&S; Management System
Ensuring compliance with Australian and New Zealand WH&S; legislation and standards
Conducting compliance reviews, audits and risk assessments
Leading incident management, injury management and return-to-work programs
Supporting ISO *****, customer and supplier audit requirements
Developing WH&S; training frameworks and organisational capability programs
Producing executive-level reporting and performance analysis
Partnering with operational leaders to drive safety engagement and accountability
Undertaking regular site visits across Australia and New Zealand to support consistent safety practices and continuous improvement.
About You
You are a credible WH&S; professional who can operate confidently from the boardroom to the shop floor. You are commercially minded, pragmatic and passionate about helping leaders create safer workplaces.
To be successful, you will bring:
Essential Experience & Skills
Demonstrated experience implementing and managing WH&S; Management Systems across multiple sites
Robust working knowledge of Australian and New Zealand WH&S; legislation
Experience conducting audits, investigations and risk assessments
Background in manufacturing, food or beverage sectors highly regarded
Proven stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
Strong project management, organisation and prioritisation skills
Advanced Microsoft 365 and SharePoint capabilities
Qualifications
Ideally, you will hold:
Diploma in Work Health & Safety
Certificate IV in Training & Assessment
