About the role
Multiple vacancies available.
The Communications and Engagement Advisor develops and delivers communication and engagement plans that support a range of transport related projects and policy initiatives across the department. The role creates clear, effective communication materials, works closely with stakeholders and channel experts, and helps ensure communities and stakeholders are informed and engaged on matters that affect them.
Working in a fast‐paced and complex environment, the role manages competing priorities, identifies and mitigates communication and reputational risks, and ensures project deadlines are met. It also supports project tracking, reporting and evaluation while contributing to a collaborative and proactive team environment.
Communicates clearly and confidently, tailoring messages to different audiences and delivering information in a concise and engaging way.
Builds strong relationships with stakeholders, understands their needs and works collaboratively to achieve positive outcomes.
Focuses on customer experience,



using feedback and insights to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation.
Applies critical thinking to solve problems, using available information, policies and processes to support sound decision‐making.
Manages multiple priorities effectively, coordinating tasks, monitoring progress and adapting quickly to changing needs and deadlines.
Qualifications and experience
You'll bring:
A relevant tertiary qualification in communications, engagement or a related discipline, or equivalent experience (mandatory).
Experience developing and delivering communication and engagement programs, ideally within the public sector, major projects, transport or infrastructure environments.
Robust communication, stakeholder engagement and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage priorities and deliver outcomes in a fast‐paced environment.
