The Office of the Information Commissioner (OIC) invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced legal professionals for the role of General Counsel. This role presents a unique opportunity to provide high-level legal expertise and strategic advice to the Information Commissioner and Executive Leadership Team during a time of continuous change and growth. This is a temporary, full-time opportunity until August ****, with possible extension.

)) to uphold greater and easier access to information held by government agencies, assisting agencies to understand their obligations under the RTI and IP Acts, and use our regulatory powers to improve compliance.

About The Role
As the OIC's General Counsel, you will provide expert and strategic legal advice across the OIC, including in relation to exercising our powers and fulfilling our responsibilities under the Right to Information Act **** and the Information Privacy Act ****, and other related legal matters as they arise. You will actively contribute to the achievement of OIC's strategic and operational objectives, through the identification and provision of advice relating to new and emerging legal issues that may impact the delivery and performance of our statutory functions and responsibilities.
