Connexus Recruitment
New South Wales
Sit across transport, water, mining and heavy industrial projects, not locked into one sector
Backed by a 1,400-robust infrastructure business that's actively expanding its project pipeline
Most senior structural roles top out. You hit a ceiling, the projects repeat, and "senior" just means more of the same.
This one's different because the business behind it isn't standing still.
You'd be joining an infrastructure engineering business with over 1,400 people across Australia, working across transport, water, buildings and defence.
The business has grown enough in recent years to be actively building out its structural team, which means genuine headroom, not a title with nothing behind it.
The work itself spans concrete, steel and composite structural systems and foundations. Bridges, culverts, pits, platforms, silos, overhead wiring structures, equipment supports and retaining structures, real variety, not a single repeat typology.
You'll prepare and independently check structural calculations, reports and specifications using Space Gass, ETABS, Idea Statica, RAPT or Strand7. You'll liaise directly with clients, suppliers, authorities and other consultants, this isn't a back-office drafting role, you're client-facing from early on.
Worth knowing upfront: some projects sit in mining and heavy industrial, so site exposure and travel come with the territory. If you want a desk-only structural role, this isn't it. If you want breadth and don't mind getting out to site, that's the appeal.
You'll need CPEng (or the ability to get there), tertiary qualifications in Civil/Structural Engineering, and full Australian working rights. Baseline clearance is a bonus, not a dealbreaker.
