About the Role
As a
Principal Forward Deployed Engineer of Applied AI
, you are responsible for translating customer objectives into deployed, production-ready AI and software solutions that deliver measurable business outcomes.
We are looking for a
Principal Java Engineer
with deep enterprise engineering expertise who can embed directly within customer environments, working closely with Product Owners, business stakeholders, engineering teams, and technical leaders to design, build, and operationalise modern AI-enabled software platforms.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you'll combine deep software engineering expertise with AI engineering, delivery ownership, architecture, product thinking, and industry awareness. You will operate across the full lifecycle of an engagement—from shaping and technically qualifying opportunities through to hands-on delivery and successful adoption in production.
You'll thrive in environments where problems are not fully defined, balancing speed, technical excellence, and commercial awareness to ensure solutions create lasting enterprise value. This role is ideal for engineers who want end-to-end ownership from problem definition through to deployed intelligence operating inside customer organisations.
Key Responsibilities
Own delivery of AI and software outcomes within customer engagements
Partner closely with customer Product Owners and stakeholders to translate business goals into technical solutions
Embed within customer teams to accelerate delivery, adoption, and value realisation
Ensure solutions deliver measurable operational and business impact
Act as a trusted technical advisor guiding customers through AI adoption
Build trusted relationships with senior technical stakeholders and engineering leadership




Technically qualify opportunities during discovery and pre-sales engagements
Shape solution approaches aligned to customer objectives and constraints
Define architecture direction, delivery approach, and implementation scope
Contribute to proposals, technical solution narratives, and Statements of Work
Design and build enterprise-grade Java microservices and cloud-native applications
Lead solution architecture across AWS and GCP environments
Deliver production-grade solutions integrating enterprise data, platforms, and AI models
Apply modern software engineering, DevOps, platform engineering, and AI-native SDLC practices, including Claude Code
Drive engineering excellence across software development, testing, quality assurance, and platform delivery
Solution & Product Thinking
Apply product and industry thinking to ensure solutions solve meaningful business problems
Balance rapid experimentation with production robustness
Continuously iterate solutions based on usage and feedback
Delivery Leadership
Lead technical execution within cross-functional delivery teams
Roll up your sleeves and get the job done when required to move customers from where they are today to the next level
Support planning, estimation, and prioritisation alongside customer product leadership
Identify risks early and drive pragmatic resolution
Mentor engineers and contribute to V2 AI's AI engineering capability uplift




Provide technical leadership across engineering and QA teams while establishing enterprise engineering standards
Role Requirements
Proven experience delivering enterprise software solutions within regulated environments (Financial Services, Banking, Insurance, or similar)
Extensive experience with Java engineering and microservice architecture
Strong experience building enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful APIs
Experience working with PostgreSQL (Amazon Aurora preferred)
Strong front-end experience with React.js (Angular experience preferred)
Strong AWS and GCP cloud expertise
Experience applying AI-native software development practices, including Claude Code or similar AI-assisted development tooling
Strong software engineering background, particularly in distributed or cloud-native systems
Experience deploying solutions from concept through to production
Demonstrated experience in technical pre-sales or solution qualification
Solid solution design and architectural capability
Experience working closely with Product Owners or business-led delivery models
Comfortable operating in ambiguous and evolving problem spaces
Experience with modern cloud, DevOps, and platform engineering practices
Ability to confidently lead engineering teams and QA functions while uplifting engineering maturity
Strong stakeholder communication skills across technical and business audiences, with the ability to engage senior client technical stakeholders
