We invite you to join our passionate team at HealthWISE and make a meaningful impact by supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across Tamworth, Armidale, and Glen Innes. This exciting, full-time opportunity offers a negotiable arrangement and is an Identified Position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Multiple peer navigator roles are available, where your contribution will empower community members living with mild to moderate mental health needs.
About The Role
As a peer navigator, you will:
Provide culturally safe mental health care options for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
Deliver both individual and group wellbeing education sessions
Strengthen collaboration between health and community services
Build lasting relationships within communities to support culturally appropriate care
Travel weekly within the region to outreach locations
By working as part of a connected, multidisciplinary team, you will help improve access to services, build stronger referral pathways, and promote holistic health and wellbeing. Peer navigators play a vital role in community empowerment.

About You
We are seeking candidates who:
Identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person (genuine occupational qualification under s14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act **** NSW); you may be asked to provide proof of nationality
Hold a Certificate III in Community Support Work (minimum) or equivalent
Have experience engaging with Aboriginal communities in a respectful, culturally informed way
Enjoy working in the community
Are able to work both independently and as part of a team
Possess strong communication, relationship-building, and organisational skills
Hold a current driver license, WWCC/Blue Card, and National Police Check
