You'll be joining Monash at an exciting time in our history as we aspire to make leading national and international contributions to Indigenous advancement in line with our commitment outlined in Impact ****, and our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Framework ***********.
Monash University is proud to offer Yurranga Barring Duliin, our refreshed Indigenous Graduate Program. The program is more than a pathway to employment, it is a journey of cultural pride, leadership and belonging. Designed by and for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, the program supports a confident transition into professional roles while honouring cultural integrity, lived experience and different career journeys.
Grounded in principles of self‐determination and community, Yurranga Barring Duliin recognises Indigenous ways of knowing, being and doing, and the value these bring to workplaces, leadership and professional practice. The program acknowledges that career pathways are not always linear and that professional capability can be developed through many forms of experience, including study, work, community leadership, cultural responsibilities, caring responsibilities and other non‐traditional pathways to employment.
Through the office of the Deputy Vice‐Chancellor, the program offers:
a solid foundation for your professional career
support to realise your ambitions and reach your full potential

a culturally affirming space to grow as a leader
recognition of the skills, strengths and knowledge you bring through your own journey
support to transition into professional employment at Monash
Yurranga Barring Duliin is open to a wider cohort of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants, including recent university graduates, people with professional or community experience, and those whose pathway into employment has been shaped through non‐traditional routes. We are particularly interested in applicants who bring strong lived experience, cultural knowledge, leadership potential and a desire to contribute to meaningful work across Monash.
Only Indigenous Australians are eligible to apply, as this position is exempt under the Measure Provision, Section 12(1) of the Equal Opportunity Act **** (Vic).
By joining Yurranga Barring Duliin, you will be provided with a supported foundation for your professional career at Australia's largest and most internationalised university. This 12‐month program provides an opportunity to explore professional pathways across Monash while building your skills, confidence and networks in a supported and culturally affirming environment.
The program is designed to support your transition into professional employment and help you build the confidence, networks and skills needed to thrive. You will be supported by the Indigenous Graduate Program team, your host area, dedicated supervisors and mentors, as well as a broader network of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff and participants across Monash.
Participants will have access to a structured and culturally grounded development program, including:
tailored professional development workshops

opportunities to connect with other Indigenous participants
