Coordinator Governance & Risk
Location: Double Bay, Sydney NSW
Salary: $142,*********,831 + Super + Allowances
Work Type: Full Time, Permanent
This is an outstanding opportunity to lead the delivery of governance, risk and corporate compliance, shaping organisational governance and strengthening risk maturity across Council. Reporting to the Manager Governance & Risk, you will provide leadership across governance, risk management, insurance, GIPA, corporate policy and internal audit while driving continuous improvement across the organisation.
Leading a specialist team, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening Council's governance framework, embedding a proactive risk culture and providing trusted advice that supports informed decision‐making at every level of the organisation.
Role
Lead Council's Governance & Risk teams across governance, risk, insurance, claims, GIPA, Council meetings and corporate policy.
Drive Council's enterprise risk management framework, business continuity planning and fraud and corruption initiatives.
Coordinate the Audit, Risk & Improvement Committee (ARIC) and support Council's internal audit program.
Oversee Council and Committee meeting governance, including agendas, minutes,
delegations and statutory registers.
Provide expert advice on governance legislation, corporate policy, compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
You will be an experienced governance professional with strong leadership capability and a passion for strengthening governance frameworks, improving risk maturity and driving organisational excellence.
Qualifications You Bring
Demonstrated experience leading governance, risk or corporate governance functions.
Strong knowledge of the Local Government Act, governance legislation, GIPA Act, and Council meeting practices.
Experience developing and implementing enterprise risk management, business continuity and fraud and corruption frameworks.
Robust stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence across all levels of an organisation.
The ability to lead teams, manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes in a complex environment.
Relevant qualifications and/or relevant experience.
Legal qualifications and relevant local Government experience will be highly regarded.
