Position Overview
The Software Engineer II is a Scrum team member who works throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC) to deliver enhancements and fixes for medical devices. You apply good software engineering principles during feature definition, design, development, integration, verification, and release. This role requires strong analytical capabilities and a focus on developing clear, testable, high‐quality Software Requirements Specifications (SRS). You'll leverage AI‐assisted tools across software engineering activities to improve efficiency, consistency, and quality.
Key Responsibilities
Participate in all Scrum events to transform the product backlog into working software increments, using AI throughout the SDLC.
Manage the user‐story backlog by defining and refining features, user stories, and acceptance criteria, ensuring alignment with stakeholder needs.
Write and maintain clear, testable SRS documents.
Specify and design solutions for user stories to deliver customer value. Develop, refactor,
debug, unit test, and review code in accordance with team standards.
Participate in verification activities, including defining test strategies, tools, and mocks; reviewing test cases; developing automated and manual tests; and maintaining product quality by identifying and fixing defects.
Contribute to engineering documentation (requirements, risk, design, testing, and release) and support delivery within a regulated medical‐device environment.
Essential Requirements
Software Engineering or Computer Science degree with 6+ years of full SDLC experience.
Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to interpret complex business and technical information and communicate it effectively to diverse stakeholders.
Expertise in writing clear, structured, testable software specifications using Gherkin and behavior‐driven development (BDD) practices.
Experience with AI‐assisted development tools and the ability to critically assess their outputs.
Experience with relevant software development technologies, including C#, .Net Framework/.Net (C#), WCF, REST, message brokers, gRPC, relational databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server) and ORMs, and unit‐testing frameworks (nUnit, xUnit).
Preferred Experience
Experience with medical device software development standards (e.g., IEC *****) or a regulated engineering environment such as aerospace or automotive.
Certification in Business Analysis (e.g., CBAP, IIBA‐AAC) and experience in requirements management.
Knowledge of UI technologies such as WPF, HTML5 and Microsoft Windows desktop/server platforms.
Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, best practices, and technologies.
