About the Role
Reporting to the Executive Manager Finance, you will be responsible for leading the national payroll team and overseeing the end-to-end payroll function. You will play a critical role in ensuring payroll compliance, maintaining payroll systems and processes, managing legislative obligations, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. As the key link between Payroll and other business units, you will provide expert advice on awards, enterprise agreements and payroll legislation while supporting organisational success through effective leadership and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the delivery of accurate and timely fortnightly payroll processing.
Ensure correct payment of wages, allowances, overtime, deductions and adjustments.
Oversee payroll reconciliations, reporting and payroll-related accounting entries.
Manage payroll liabilities including PAYG withholding, superannuation and other statutory payments.
Prepare leave provisions and manage specialist leave entitlements, including VECTEA/VOTTEA requirements.
Provide payroll support across multiple service locations and business units.
Ensure payroll operations comply with all relevant legislation, awards, enterprise agreements and organisational policies.
Monitor and implement annual wage increases and legislative changes.
Conduct payroll audits and quality assurance activities to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Lead, coach and mentor payroll team members.
Foster a positive, collaborative and high-performing team culture.
Partner closely with People & Culture, Workplace Relations and Finance teams.
Provide expert payroll advice to senior leaders and support informed decision-making.
Identify training opportunities and support the ongoing development of team capability.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
A minimum of5 years' experience in a senior payroll position with multiple direct reports
Not for profit experience in early education and/or community services highly desirable.
Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring and developing payroll teams.
Solid knowledge of payroll legislation,
Modern Awards, Enterprise Agreements and employment-related compliance requirements.
Experience managing complex payroll operations within a medium to large organisation.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving and reconciliation skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
The ability to prioritise competing deadlines and work both independently and collaboratively.
High levels of integrity, professionalism and confidentiality.
Experience using
HR3 and Humanforce advantageous.
E
xperience with Children's Service Award/ Teachers Award and SCHADS Award will be an advantage.
Pay and Benefits
Annual salary$143,**********,****** + fully maintained vehicle
2 weeks additional paid leave over festive season
