Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. We are seeking an experienced
Light Machinery Technician
to join our site-based Maintenance team, overseeing the maintenance of the Karara mobile fleet, plant machinery, and ancillary equipment.
This position operates on an
8 days on and 6 days off
roster.
To be successful in the role, the following is essential:
Trade qualification as a LV Mechanic (HD Mechanic preferred)
WA C Class Drivers Licence
Skid steer ticket, Loader ticket, Excavator ticket, EWP ticket, Forklift Ticket (desirable)
Demonstrated experience working in a mechanical role in a mineral processing setting
Proven understanding of mining safety standards, including permit systems and risk management tools
Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite and SAP
National Police clearance




To be eligible to apply for this role you must be legally permitted to work permanently in Australia.
Key Duties
(but not limited to) :-
Maintain mobile fleet and equipment to high safety, operational, and manufacturer standards
Collaborate with Parts Coordinator to ensure critical parts are stocked for timely repairs
Keep the Light Machinery workshop compliant with safety, environmental, and storage standards
Use CMMS to plan, record, and manage maintenance activities
Identify opportunities to improve reliability and reduce costs
Monitor and communicate LV downtime impacting safety, environment, or operations
Prioritize repairs to minimize disruptions while meeting safety standards
Engage with operations to enhance equipment reliability
Develop strategies to improve reliability and achieve cost savings
