Position: Welder (First Class)
Salary: $79,000 - $90,000 per annum plus 12% superannuation
Hours: 38 hours per week

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Welder to join our expanding team.
This role is ideal for a skilled tradesperson who is confident working across metal fabrication, welding, structural steel assembly, machinery repairs, and on-site installation projects.
You will contribute directly to delivering durable, high-quality metalwork solutions that meet client specifications, safety requirements, and industry standards
Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):
• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, and specifications to determine joint configurations, welding processes, consumables, materials, and equipment required.
• Perform welding using a range of techniques including MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), MMA (stick/SMAW), spot, continuous and coded welding on stainless steel, aluminium, mild and galvanised steel.
• Carry out auto pulse welding on stainless steel components and assemblies in line with Rainbow Powder Coating's production standards.
• Prepare materials prior to welding by cutting, grinding, bevelling, cleaning, tack-welding, and aligning parts using hand tools and measuring instruments.
• Fabricate and weld industrial ducting, dust and fume collection equipment, cyclone extractors, fume arms, enclosures, cabinets, benches,
platforms and structural steel assemblies in compliance with relevant Australian Standards (including AS/NZS **** for welding and AS **** for ductwork).
• Join and assemble sheetmetal and structural steel components using welding, riveting, soldering, brazing and other metal joining techniques.
• Inspect completed welds for bead width, penetration, profile and defects, and rectify as required to meet quality and Australian Standard requirements.
• Conduct finishing work including grinding, polishing, filing, sanding, and cleaning of welds and surfaces to ensure high quality final products.
• Support on-site machinery installation, weld repairs, maintenance and adjustments as needed across project locations in Victoria.
• Work within Rainbow Powder Coating's project management framework, complying with safety plans, JSEA forms, risk assessments, work method statements, and quality standards throughout all phases of fabrication and installation.
Qualifications:
• Certificate III or IV in Engineering (Fabrication Trade), Welding, Metal Fabrication, or a relevant trade qualification.
Other Skills and Requirements:
• Minimum 1 year experience as a Welder, Metal Fabricator, or in a similar role.
• Proven experience in welding and metal fabrication across stainless steel, aluminium, and steel.
• Competence in MIG, TIG, MMA and coded welding techniques.
• Solid ability to read and interpret technical drawings, weld symbols, blueprints, and specifications.
• Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication machinery safely and accurately.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
