Where You'll Be Working
Liverpool Hospital, founded in ****, is the major health service for south‐western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of state‐wide services such as critical care, trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation. The hospital is undergoing a major redevelopment – the $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) – to enhance facilities and meet future population growth. It is a principal referral and teaching hospital of the University of NSW and Western Sydney University, welcoming students from over 20 universities and colleges.
What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of a Trainee in Anaesthesia is to provide anaesthesia care in a complex clinical environment under supervision. Trainees extend their knowledge and skills across multiple subspecialty areas to meet ANZCA professional standards. Responsibilities include:
Providing anaesthesia,



perioperative care and pain management services inside and outside operating rooms.
Performing duties during rotations to other areas as directed.
Acting as a multidisciplinary team member across key areas of anaesthetics: anaesthesia and sedation (including obstetric anaesthesia where relevant), regional anaesthesia, airway management, pain medicine, perioperative medicine, resuscitation, trauma and crisis management.
Contract Duration
This position offers both Scheme (3‐4 years) and Independent (1‐2 years) contracts, based on the competitive application process.
Qualifications
MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
Adequate postgraduate hospital medical experience (preferably 3 years or greater), and appropriate clinical anaesthesia experience for the training hospital's role.
Demonstrated ability to apply excellent clinical skills, knowledge & judgement.
Demonstrated insight and reflective learning.
Demonstrated teamwork, collaboration and problem‐solving skills.
Demonstrated communication skills, both written & oral, with patients, families, colleagues and the public.
Demonstrated interest in and commitment to the ongoing improvement of patient care.
Demonstrated personal integrity, professionalism, ethical practice & humility.
