The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity for a casual Animal Attendant to assist in the day-to-day operation of our pound facility in accordance with relevant legislation and codes of practice in conjunction with Council's policies and procedures. This position will report to the Pound Services Team Leader and will be responsible to carry out all duties associated with our pound facility.

Key Responsibilities
Undertake daily cleaning, exercising, feeding, watering and inspections of all animals.




Carry out daily health observations of all animals and report any change in behaviour or medical condition of an animal to the supervisor.
Book required health checks for animals with contracted Veterinarian and administer medication and treatment as required or as prescribed by a veterinary practitioner.
Handling administrative tasks such as, registration, animal releases, cash handling, payment processing, adoptions, fostering, and all related rescue/shelter procedures with corresponding paperwork.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
Certificate in Animal Care or associated discipline or equivalent TAFE qualification and/or equivalent level of relevant experience.
Skills in handling domestic animals, using animal handling equipment including dog control devices and knowledge of care and husbandry of animals.
Basic knowledge of relevant legislation relating to animals
Working knowledge of the processes and practices required to operate a pound or similar facility.
Current valid Victorian Driver's Licence.
Must hold or be able to obtain an Employee Working with Children Check.
