About the Role
Join Chubb's Casualty team as a Casualty Underwriter and help manage and grow a profitable portfolio across an assigned panel of Independent and Global brokers. This is a hands‐on role where you'll combine technical underwriting expertise, commercial judgement,
and strong relationship management to support profitable growth.
You'll take ownership of new and renewal Casualty business, underwriting in line with Chubb's strategy while identifying opportunities to expand the portfolio. You'll also work across complex accounts, support business development, and help strengthen long‐term broker and insured relationships.
In this role, you will:
Commercial Underwriting / Analysis
Underwrite Primary, Umbrella, and Excess Liability business in line with Chubb's underwriting strategy
Manage current and renewal business across an assigned broker panel
Assess and price complex risks, including Australian and multinational programs
Present significant accounts for referral and approval where required
Support portfolio management, business development, and account growth
Provide technical input on coverage, pricing, and underwriting strategy
Contribute to pricing strategy and renewal negotiation on complex accounts
Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, insureds, and internal stakeholders
Identify new business opportunities, including cross‐departmental and pipeline opportunities
Prepare, deliver, and negotiate quotations
Work collaboratively across product lines and with other teams on whole‐of‐account opportunities
Support broker engagement and help develop long‐term partnerships
Share market insights, competitor activity, and underwriting trends
What you'll bring to the role
Around 2–3 years' experience in Casualty or Package Underwriting and Development
Solid broker relationships across Independent and Global broking houses
Ability to develop creative solutions for complex underwriting situations
Understanding of advanced pricing techniques and account servicing costs
Experience handling complex accounts and developing marketing plans
Strong collaboration skills across Claims, Risk Engineering, and Operations
Valuable understanding of claims analysis and loss control resources
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
Ability to coach and support less experienced underwriters
