About the role
We are seeking a self-motivated, empathetic
Community Mental Health Practitioner
to join our
Youth Residential Rehabilitation Service (YRRS)
in Townsville on a permanent, part time basis. YRRS is a recovery-focused residential program supporting young people aged *****. Delivered in a safe, home-like environment, the service supports young people to develop life skills, build resilience, strengthen social connections, and increase their confidence to live independently.
In this role, you will provide person-centred, recovery-oriented support to young people to help them work towards their wellbeing goals, develop independent living skills and routines, build confidence to live safely in the community, and strengthen their social and community connections.
This role requires flexibility to work a 24/7 rotating roster, including night shifts, weekdays, weekends, and sleepovers.
Key responsibilities
Provide recovery-focused, person-centred support to young people in a residential setting.




Support young people to develop daily living skills, routines, confidence and independence.
Build positive relationships that promote safety, trust, wellbeing and recovery.
Support young people to strengthen their social and community connections.
Apply trauma-informed and recovery-oriented approaches to support individual goals.
Work collaboratively with young people, families, carers and internal/external services.
What you'll bring
Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Youth Work, Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, or other health-related field.
Expertise in working with young people with mental health issues, complex needs and interacting with families and carers.
Proven capability to implement therapeutic, recovery oriented frameworks and practices including risk mitigation, trauma informed care and family inclusive practice.
A current First Aid and CPR certificate.
Ability to provide proof of vaccination against vaccine preventable diseases or willingness to obtain required vaccinations per Queensland Health partnership.
