A highly specialised global defence technology organisation is seeking a Quality Manager to lead the implementation and continuous improvement of its Quality Management Systems across Australian headquarters and international facilities. This is a critical appointment driven by continued growth, increasing operational complexity and a commitment to delivering reliable, safe and compliant electronic systems across the full product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, maintain and continuously improve a unified QMS across Australian and international operations
Ensure quality systems remain compliant with ISO ****, AS**** and defence‐specific standards
Act as the key contact for defence compliance audits and customer quality assurance representatives
Champion a zero‐defect culture across design, manufacturing, deployment and ongoing improvementPartner with engineering teams on design verification, validation and risk management processes
Provide quality oversight across complex electronics, PCB, PCBA and component traceability projects
Support software quality frameworks across embedded software and firmware environments
Drive manufacturing process controls, root cause analysis, CAPA and continuous improvement initiatives
Manage global supplier quality assurance programs across international component suppliers
Track quality performance indicators and cost of poor quality to support informed business decisions




Desired Skills and Attributes
Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a closely related technical discipline
8 to 10 years of quality experience within a design and manufacturing environment
Strong background working with complex electronic systems
Proven experience within the defence sector
Strong understanding of defence procurement, security protocols and military standards
Extensive QMS experience across ISO **** and AS**** environments
Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, 8D, 5 Whys, CAPA, DFMEA and PFEMA
Ability to confidently challenge engineering design decisions and manufacturing processes
Strong communication skills across technical teams, international stakeholders and defence customers
Exposure to Agile, embedded software, firmware quality or software development processes would be highly regarded
Lead Auditor, Certified Quality Manager or Six Sigma certification would be advantageous
