Our multidisciplinary team is united by a practical, ambitious approach to improving the way human performance is measured.The OpportunityJoin a global technology company where you will work directly with the General Counsel, gain exposure to complex commercial and regulatory matters, and build broad in-house capability early in your career.You will support VALD's growth across a varied portfolio of work, including commercial contracts, corporate transactions and regulatory issues relating to data, privacy, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.
The breadth of the role makes it particularly well suited to a lawyer who is curious, careful and enthusiastic about learning unfamiliar areas.You will join a supportive and experienced legal team.
As your capability grows, you will have opportunities to take increasing ownership of matters and work closely with senior stakeholders across the business.The role is based in Newstead.
The legal team works predominantly from the office so that we can collaborate closely, learn from one another and stay connected to the teams we support.
Our purpose is to help the business move forward with clear, pragmatic and commercially focused advice.What you will work onThe role offers broad exposure for a lawyer at this stage of their career.Much of your work will involve drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements with clients, suppliers and collaboration partners.




You will also advise on regulatory matters affecting the development and global delivery of VALD's products, including on privacy, data security and artificial intelligence issues.You will also contribute to a broad range of matters arising across a growing international business.
This may include work on acquisitions, employment, intellectual property, leasing, corporate governance, or disputes.You will help improve the way the legal team operates by developing and maintaining templates, policies, playbooks and practical processes that support efficient, consistent legal service delivery.You will receive direct mentoring, regular feedback and matter support from the legal team.
We also work with specialist external counsel where appropriate.What success will look likeAs a successful candidate:You produce accurate, carefully reviewed work and reliably follow matters through to completion.You take initiative and ownership of matters.You ask thoughtful questions and quickly build knowledge in unfamiliar areas.You develop a practical understanding of VALD's products, customers and commercial objectives.You communicate complex issues clearly and tailor your advice to the audience.You identify opportunities to assist the team to improve templates, processes and legal service delivery.About youTo be considered for the role, you will have:A law degree and a current Australian practising certificate, or eligibility to obtain one.Between one and three years' post-qualification experience gained in private practice or an in-house legal team.Experience in one or more of commercial contracting,



corporate transactions, technology, privacy or regulatory matters.
