The VACCA team is committed to the organisation's visions and values, passionately providing support, service and advocacy for our children and other vulnerable members of the community.Our strength lies with our people.About The RoleThe role of the Koorie FACES Group Facilitator at VACCA is to lead the delivery of culturally focused group parenting sessions to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, parents and carers and to provide them with opportunities to strengthen their cultural knowledge and understanding about parenting.
The Group Facilitator, with support from a co-facilitator, is responsible for delivering high-quality group sessions to VACCA Ovens Murray region and creating a safe space for families navigating complex challenges related to parenting and wellbeing.About YouDemonstrated commitment and understanding for the values that underpin VACCA' vision and purposeDemonstrated awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and cultures,
and commitment to continually build knowledge of suchStrong cultural knowledge and a commitment to supporting a culturally safe work environmentExperience in public speaking and confidence facilitating workshops with CommunityAdvanced capacity to listen deeply and respond with compassion and respect to people experiencing difficultyStrong leadership and mentoring skills, including the ability to support and develop less senior staff, promote best practice, and lead by exampleAptitude for teamwork and ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholdersDesirableA qualification in community services, adult learning or a related field.
For example, Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE) or Diploma of Community Services.Extensive experience (minimum 5 years) in child and family services, or a related field such as social work, allied health, community development, education, or justiceExperience working in an Aboriginal organisation or with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families or CommunityRequirementsAbility to travel between VACCA offices during school termsValid Police Check, a Victorian Working with Children's Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence.
