The opportunity
The Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex (CDSCC) supports ground-based spacecraft telecommunications as part of the international National Aeronautic Space Administration (NASA) Deep Space Network (DSN), under contractual arrangements between the NASA and Commonwealth Scientific Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO).

Play a key role in supporting the ICT infrastructure that helps connect some of humanity's most ambitious space exploration missions.
As an ICT Network Technician at the Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex (CDSCC), you'll work as part of a highly skilled team responsible for maintaining and supporting the complex network, communications and connectivity systems that underpin critical NASA Deep Space Network operations.
This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career or developing network professional to gain hands‐on experience across enterprise networking, Wi‐Fi, telephony, cabling infrastructure, end‐user support and cybersecurity in a highly specialised operational workplace.
Working alongside experienced ICT professionals and collaborating with CSIRO, NASA and international stakeholders, you'll contribute to the reliability, security and performance of systems that support global space missions while building valuable technical skills in a unique and rewarding workplace.

Your high-level duties will include:
Provide first-line support for enterprise network services, investigating and resolving connectivity issues, faults and incidents .
Support and maintain LAN, Wi‐Fi,
telephony and communications infrastructure across the CDSCC site .
Assist with the installation, configuration and upkeep of network equipment and data cabling infrastructure .
Troubleshoot and document network hardware and software issues to ensure reliable service delivery .
Provide technical support to staff for computers, mobile communications devices and wireless connectivity .
Collaborate with CSIRO, NASA, JPL and other stakeholders to maintain secure, reliable and high‐performing ICT services.
Contribute to a secure, inclusive and professional workplace while supporting mission‐critical operations.
Role particulars
Location: Tidbinbilla, ACT – Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex (CDSCC)
Salary: AU$93,814 to AU$113,819 pa, plus Tracking Station Allowance of $****** per week, plus 15.4% superannuation ( also eligible for fleet transport to & from site within a defined Canberra region )
Tenure & work schedule: Indefinite, Full-time on a 9-day fortnightly schedule

As the successful candidate, you will bring:
Essential Criteria
A tertiary qualification in Information Technology or solid understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, subnetting, VLANs, routing, switching, and firewall concepts.
Demonstrated Helpdesk or fault diagnosis experience within an enterprise environment, with direct exposure to layer 2/3 switching.
Ability to assist with Installation, configuring, and troubleshooting of network equipment.
Demonstrated ability to write technical documentation.
Self‐motivated with ability to work effectively, independently and as part of a diverse, multi-skilled team .
