Your Role

This role reports to the Network Operations Engineering Manager and is responsible for network operations and maintenance and providing level 3 support for services that Megaport customers rely on. A successful applicant will work closely with the existing engineering teams to build and maintain a highly scalable, reliable, and resilient network, with a focus on automation and providing elastic services to customers on demand.

Passionate about scalable networking with an interest in automation and software, you will work on robustly solving problems with a focus on customer experience and the end product. Ideally, you have come from a telecommunications or content distribution network background with experience working on large global networks and an intimate knowledge of routing protocols and label switching.

Experience with SDN and cloud-based networking concepts is a must.

Responsibilities

/n

/n

- Operations and maintenance of Megaport's next-generation network

/n

- Major network and Level 3 customer incident fault resolution

/n

- Network capacity management activity ensuring availability, forecasting/planning & deployment

/n

- Document all work completed in Megaport's OSS/BSS systems

/n

- Ensure appropriate monitoring is implemented for network equipment

/n

- Maintain technical relationships with vendors and internal engineering teams

/n

- Provide escalation support for network operations centre staff, sales, deployment, and other business units

/n

- Provide technical summaries of proposed, planned, and completed technical work

/n

- Evaluation, testing, and certification of recent network hardware, systems and software

/n

- Development and delivery of training to Network Operations staff

/n

- Work with Engineering on network enhancement projects

/n/n

Qualifications

/n

/n

- Proven strong background in network incident resolution, incident mitigation, deployment, and maintenance

/n

- Production experience in ISIS, BGP, MPLS Traffic Engineering, and MPLS L2/L3 VPN

/n

- Production experience operating optical networks, particularly with DWDM and ROADM systems

/n

- Production experience operating transit networks including managing upstream, downstream and peering relationships

/n

- Production experience in Juniper, Cisco and Nokia hardware platforms

/n

- Experience managing network hardware installations and single-mode fiber optics patching at 3rd party data centres

/n

- Linux OS and Perl or Python coding experience will be highly regarded

/n

- Be proactive and self-motivated

/n

- Organised with a strong attention to detail

/n

- Exceptional time management skills

/n

- Have the ability to take initiative and work effectively in a rapidly changing environment

/n

- Ability to work autonomously as well as in remote teams
