Our engineering team is remote-friendly but those of us who are Sydney-based like to work from our Surry Hills office 2-3 times a week to collaborate. We're looking for a talented engineer who excels at solving complex problems. The ideal candidate is adept at both shipping clean application code and maintaining healthy, secure, and scalable infrastructure.

What You'll Be Doing

/n

As a Senior Backend Engineer with a Dev Ops focus, you'll be instrumental in shaping both our platform and the infrastructure that powers it. Your responsibilities will include:

- Designing and building RESTful APIs for our front-end applications and partners.

/n

- Integrating with a range of external services such as Salesforce, Auth0, Cloudflare, and others.

/n

- Architecting solutions that meet our high availability, security, and performance requirements.

/n





- Building and maintaining our cloud infrastructure to support rapid growth, with an emphasis on automation, repeatability, and cost efficiency.

/n

- Owning CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows to help the team ship safely and quickly.

/n

- Managing infrastructure-as-code so our environments are consistent, version-controlled, and easy to maintain.

/n

- Improving observability across the stack — logging, metrics, alerting, and tracing — so we can catch issues before our customers.

/n

- Strengthening the reliability and security posture of our systems, from incident response to proactive hardening.

/n

- Writing well-structured, tested, and documented code that's a pleasure to maintain.

/n

- Working closely with our Product, Design, and other teams to refine deliverables and bring new features to life.

/n/n

What We're Looking For

/n

For we're seeking a passionate backend engineer who enjoys working close to the infrastructure, can solve complex technical problems, and communicates solutions with ease.

/n

Required Experience:

/n

/n

- Minimum 5 years of commercial Ruby on Rails experience.

/n

- Proven experience integrating with external APIs.

/n

- Experience with database design and performance tuning, particularly with PostgreSQL.

/n

- Hands-on experience designing, deploying,



and maintaining cloud infrastructure with AWS or GCP.

/n

- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.

/n

- Comfort working in a Linux environment and with command-line tools.

/n

- Experience with testing frameworks like RSpec.

/n

- Experience with high-volume background job processing frameworks e.g. Sidekiq.

/n

- Strong experience designing and maintaining both public and private REST APIs.

/n

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

/n/n

Skills Bonus Points

/n

/n

- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools e.g. Terraform / Open Tofu.

/n

- Experience with containerisation and orchestration e.g. Docker.

/n

- Experience with observability and monitoring tooling e.g., Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar.

/n

- Experience with security best practices (e.g., OWASP, STRIDE).

/n

- Experience in high-volume production environments with strict availability SLAs.

/n

- Knowledge of the financial services industry (lending or corporate finance).

/n

- Experience navigating GDPR and/or SOC2 regulations.
