About the Role

The Principal Consultant works across the full engagement lifecycle, from technical presales through to supporting delivery. This role helps win new business by leading solution design and client-facing presales activity during the sales cycle, then supports the delivery organisation as a senior technical advisor to ensure engagements are executed successfully.

The role bridges sales and delivery, ensuring solutions sold are technically sound, deliverable, and set up for a smooth handover.

Responsibilities

- Lead technical discovery, solution design, and proposal/SOW development for prospective clients.
- Deliver technical presentations, demos, and proofs-of-concept during the sales cycle.
- Estimate effort, cost, and timelines; support RFP/RFI responses.
- Act as a trusted technical advisor throughout the sales cycle, building client confidence in VECTEC's ability to deliver.

Delivery

- Support project and delivery leads with technical and architectural expertise across engagements.
- Step in on scope, risk, and timeline discussions as a senior technical advisor.
- Provide escalation support for complex client or technical issues during delivery.li>




- Mentor consultants and help ensure a clean handover from sales commitments to delivery.

Practice Contribution

- Contribute to reusable presales and delivery assets: proposal templates, solution architectures, and delivery playbooks.
- Build long-term trusted client relationships that support repeat and expansion business.
- Stay current on relevant technologies, industry trends, and the competitive landscape.

Qualifications

- 8+ years in professional services/consulting, spanning both presales and technical delivery.
- Proven track record of supporting sales cycles through to signed engagements.
- Experience supporting delivery teams in a senior technical or advisory capacity.
- Robust solution architecture and technical design capability.
- Excellent client-facing communication skills, comfortable presenting to technical and executive audiences.
- Experience with proposal writing, estimation, and commercial/contractual basics (SOWs, change orders).
- Strong stakeholder management, balancing client, sales, and delivery priorities simultaneously.
- Right to work in Australia.

Required Skills

- Strong solution architecture and technical design capability.
- Capability across virtualisation, private cloud, networks & security
- Excellent client-facing communication skills, comfortable presenting to technical and executive audiences.
- Experience with proposal writing, estimation, and commercial/contractual basics (SOWs, change orders).
