A well-established Australian insurance organisation is investing heavily in its risk, controls, and assurance capability. As part of this growth, an chance has been created for a Controls Testing & Assurance Officer with IT/IS experience to join a collaborative and high-performing 2nd Line Risk & Compliance team.

Role Overview

Reporting into the newly recruited IT Testing & Assurance Manager, you will play a key role in delivering the enterprise controls testing program across operational, technology and information security risks. You will partner with stakeholders across the business to assess control effectiveness, support remediation activities, strengthen the overall risk, and control environment.

This is an ideal role for a first-time mover from professional services to gain meaningful mentoring with autonomy.

Key Responsibilities

- Execute risk-based controls testing across business and technology environments
- Lead IT General Controls (ITGC) and information security testing activities
- Support compliance with APRA CPS 230 and CPS 234 requirements
- Assess control design and operating effectiveness across key business processes
- Support control uplift initiatives and remediation tracking
- Partner with Risk, Audit, Technology and business stakeholders to improve assurance outcomes
- Assist with governance reporting and GRC maintenance

Skills & Experience

3+ years' experience in Controls Testing, Risk Assurance, Internal Audit,



Technology Risk or Compliance specifically within an APRA-regulated environment/client base

- Strong IT General Controls (ITGC) and assurance testing experience
- Hands-on information security controls testing experience
- APRA CPS 230 and CPS 234 knowledge is highly desirable
- Insurance, banking, superannuation or broader financial services experience
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Qualifications in Audit, Risk, Business, CISA, CA or CPA highly regarded
- Big 4 Consulting, Risk Advisory or Technology Risk background strongly encouraged
