Job Description
The Role
/n
As a Communications Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering end-to-end engineering activities across the project lifecycle, from design and implementation through to testing and commissioning.
/n
This is a project-focused role where you will translate solution designs into deployable technical solutions while contributing to the ongoing development and optimisation of enterprise communications networks.
/n
Key responsibilities include:
/n
/n
- Deliver communications engineering work packages throughout the project lifecycle, including design, build, testing and commissioning.
/n
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including Technical Design Documents (TDDs), Low-Level Designs (LLDs), implementation plans and commissioning documentation.
/n
- Support the integration of communications systems across IT and OT environments, ensuring secure, resilient and reliable operation.
/n
- Ensure all engineering designs align with approved standards, architectures, engineering frameworks and industry best practices.
/n
- Perform system testing, validation, troubleshooting and commissioning activities.
/n
- Provide technical oversight and support to vendors, contractors and delivery partners.
/n
- Identify, assess and escalate technical risks where appropriate.
/n
- Support operational readiness through documentation, knowledge transfer and transition to support teams.
/n
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Communications Technicians.
/n
- Participate in change management processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
/n/n
About You
/n
To be successful in this role, you will have:
/n
/n
- A degree in Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
/n
- Approximately 2–5 years' experience in communications engineering, ideally within enterprise, industrial or operational technology environments.
/n
- Experience delivering communications infrastructure projects from design through to implementation and commissioning.
/n
- A robust understanding of engineering standards, cybersecurity principles and systems integration.
/n
- Excellent problem-solving, communication and technical documentation skills.
/n
- The ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
/n
- A current Australian Driver's Licence.
/n/n
Desirable Technical Experience
/n
Experience across several of the following technologies would be highly regarded:
/n
/n
- IT/OT networking, including Layer 2/Layer 3 switching, routing and MPLS.
/n
- Optical fibre transmission technologies, including CWDM and DWDM.
/n
- Microwave radio and private mobile radio (PMR) networks.
/n
- VoIP telephony, collaboration platforms and voice recording systems.
/n
- Edge communications devices, serial data interfaces and VF circuits.
/n
- Communications shelters, huts and associated infrastructure.
/n
- Radio mast and tower infrastructure.
/n
- DC power systems, including battery backup and solar-powered communications systems.
/n/n
