This senior-level role provides strategic leadership to identify and address system barriers impacting chronic disease prevention across the pregnancy continuum, driving system-wide improvement through evidence-informed solutions and cross-sector collaboration. The role partners with Hospital and Health Services, Queensland Health divisions and key stakeholders to strengthen integration, improve service delivery and inform policy and program development, supporting consistent statewide implementation of prevention priorities and improved maternal and infant health outcomes.

Your key responsibilities:

- Provide statewide system leadership to identify and address barriers for chronic disease prevention to improve pregnancy outcomes, using data and insights to inform priorities and areas for action including, but not limited to the Supporting Healthier Pregnancies Initiative.
- Provide advanced level knowledge, expertise and skills in contemporary chronic disease prevention practice, with the ability to resolve complex service barriers, and promote culturally safe, clinically appropriate care.
- Lead the development and implementation of solutions to address system-level challenges, supporting consistent and sustainable improvement across Hospital and Health Services in relation to the Supporting Healthier Pregnancies Initiative and other emerging Government priorities.
- Work across key chronic disease prevention priorities, including but not limited to smoking and vaping, nutrition and physical activity, alcohol and immunisation, to drive coordinated and integrated approaches for chronic disease prevention at a statewide level and provide specialist advice for the pregnancy portfolio.

Role fit

The essential requirements for this role are:

- Demonstrated advanced level knowledge, expertise and skills in contemporary chronic disease prevention practice, with the ability to resolve complex service barriers, and promote culturally safe, clinically appropriate care.




- Demonstrated expertise and skills in contemporary public health and health promotion approaches in relation to prevention practice during the pregnancy period.
- Proven ability to lead statewide quality improvement initiatives, embed evidence-based practices, and develop, implement, and evaluate policies and procedures to enhance service delivery, minimise risk and ensure compliance with clinical governance frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to independently lead strategic change through effective communication, consultation and negotiation skills and through shaping policy and/or program reforms, driving innovation and enabling quality improvement.
