About the role

The Registered Nurse – Central Sterilising Unit provides contemporary, evidence-based and patient-focused nursing care within Surgery and Procedural Services at the Surgical Treatment and Rehabilitation Service (STARS). Working as part of an interprofessional healthcare team, the role supports the delivery of safe, high-quality sterilisation services that underpin surgical and procedural care across the health service.

The successful candidate will apply clinical nursing expertise to support the operation of the Central Sterilising Unit, ensuring compliance with professional standards, policies and best practice principles. The role contributes to quality improvement initiatives, promotes a culture of safety and collaboration, and supports optimal outcomes for patients, clinicians and healthcare services.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

- Provide high-quality nursing care and apply clinical expertise to support safe and effective operations within the Central Sterilising Unit.
- Demonstrate sound clinical judgement, problem-solving skills and accountability while working independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Contribute to evidence-based practice, patient safety initiatives and continuous quality improvement activities that support service excellence.




- Promote effective communication and teamwork, working closely with colleagues and healthcare professionals to maintain high standards of care and service delivery.
- Support learning, professional development and the implementation of policies, procedures and best practice standards within the clinical environment.
