A leading Defence industry organisation is seeking an experienced Policy Officer.

We are seeking an experienced Policy Officer with a strong background in policy development, analysis, and stakeholder engagement to join a Canberra-based organisation in a permanent capacity. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional who can translate complex information into clear, practical policy advice and deliver high-quality written products.
Your new role
Reporting to senior leadership, you will:

- Lead the research, development, review, and implementation of policies and frameworks.
- Prepare high-quality policy papers, briefs, submissions, ministerial correspondence, and reports.
- Analyse complex legislative, regulatory, and strategic issues to inform decision-making.
- Engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support policy outcomes.
- Contribute to governance, risk, and compliance activities as required.
- Provide timely and well-researched advice to senior executives.

What you'll need to succeed

- Demonstrated experience in policy development, policy analysis, and policy writing/ APS5/6 equivalent.
- Exceptional written communication skills,



with the ability to produce concise and influential policy documents.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and consultation skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within tight timeframes.
- Current NV1 Security Clearance (essential).
