About the role

This role offers the prospect to provide expert clinical care across a broad spectrum of infectious diseases, including the management of complex inpatient and outpatient cases, healthcare-associated infections, HIV, viral hepatitis, antimicrobial stewardship, infection prevention, and Hospital in the Home services. You will contribute to the care of highly specialised patient cohorts, including transplant recipients, immunocompromised patients, intensive care, burns and trauma patients, and those requiring multidisciplinary specialist input.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

- Establish work priorities in clinical medicine, medical education and research with minimum direct supervision
- Provide clinical care to the unit's own inpatients and consults by participating in the infectious diseases consultant roster, including after hours and on-call work. This will include services not located on the RBWH Herston campus elsewhere in Metro-North Hospital and Health Service and telephone services to other HHSs as required
- Infectious Diseases Outpatient Clinic including general infectious diseases, management of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), viral hepatitis, hospital-in-the-home/outpatient antibiotic therapy and a variety of other infections at RBWH, North Lakes Health Precinct and by Telehealth




- Inpatient care for infectious diseases patients focussed primarily on healthcare associated infection with extensive subspecialty involvement including allogeneic stem cell transplantation and other profoundly immunocompromised individuals, complex subspecialty surgical, burns, trauma and intensive care unit patients and a broad range of other medical and surgical specialties
