Advanced Behaviour Support Services is seeking compassionate, resilient and highly motivated Disability Support Workers to join our growing team supporting a participant in Roseworthy, South Australia.
We are recruiting Disability Support Workers to provide high-quality, person-centred support for a male participant living with Autism Spectrum Disorder and epilepsy. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference while working within a supportive, experienced and professional team.
About the Role
You will work as part of a 2:1 support model across a 7-day rotating roster, with shifts operating between 7:00am and 10:00pm.
Working closely with the participant, your role will focus on promoting independence, enhancing quality of life, and providing consistent, respectful support while implementing proactive behaviour support strategies.
Please note: This participant presents with highly challenging behaviours, and demonstrated experience supporting individuals with complex behaviours is essential. Applicants without this experience will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred support in line with the participant's goals and individual support plans.
- Deliver safe, consistent support for a participant with complex behavioural support needs.
- Implement Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies and behaviour support plans.
- Respond confidently and professionally to incidents involving highly challenging behaviours while maintaining a therapeutic approach.
- Assist with community participation and activities of daily living.
- Build positive relationships that promote independence, choice and dignity.
- Maintain accurate documentation, progress notes and incident reports.
- Work collaboratively with your co-workers, clinical team and wider support network.
- Promote a safe,
respectful and inclusive environment at all times.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience supporting people who display highly challenging behaviours (essential).
- Experience supporting individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
- A sound understanding of Positive Behaviour Support principles.
- The ability to remain calm, confident and professional in high-pressure situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Robust problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Flexibility to work across a rotating 7-day roster.
Essential Requirements
- Current Driver's Licence and Comprehensive Car Insurance.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Working with Children Check.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module (or willingness to complete before commencement).
- Full Australian working rights.
