About the role
The Property & Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring the effective day-to-day management, maintenance, and statutory compliance of the Society’s property portfolio. Reporting to the Senior Asset Manager, this role provides operational leadership in maintenance planning, contractor management, and compliance, and plays a critical role in ensuring all owned and leased assets are safe, functional, and well maintained.
The role directly supervises the Property Administrator, who acts as the first point of contact for maintenance requests and coordinates the logging and tracking of reactive and preventative work orders across the organisation. Together, they ensure a responsive and coordinated approach to maintenance and asset compliance.
The Property & Compliance Manager contributes to the delivery of minor capital works (where required), supports contractor engagement, and ensures compliance with all statutory obligations, including Essential Safety Measures (ESMs), asbestos registers, and building condition assessments across a diverse property portfolio.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing reactive and preventative maintenance across a diverse property portfolio.
- Leading and supporting the Property Administrator to ensure efficient maintenance coordination.
- Ensuring compliance with Essential Safety Measures (ESMs), building codes, WHS legislation and other statutory requirements.
- Coordinating contractors and service providers to deliver maintenance and compliance works.
- Conducting property inspections, audits and building condition assessments.
- Supporting minor capital works projects, contractor engagement and project delivery.
- Preparing compliance and maintenance reports while building strong relationships with internal stakeholders.

About you
You will bring:
- Demonstrated experience in facilities, asset or property management across a diverse property portfolio.
- Strong knowledge of building maintenance, statutory compliance and Essential Safety Measures (ESMs).
- Experience managing contractors, service providers and ideally leading a small team.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience managing maintenance budgets, contracts and operational planning.
- A tertiary qualification in facilities management, asset management, engineering, building services or a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience).
- A current Victorian Driver's Licence and the flexibility to travel to regional sites when required.
