About the role
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker uses their cultural knowledge, language skills, lived experience and community connections to work with young people with whom they share a lived experience.

This position engages and develops relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people with various physical health and social support needs, supports them to connect to their care team and other community support organisations, and aims to reduce barriers to accessing services.

- Support young people to work towards achieving their goals and empowering them to genuinely participate in decision-making that affects their life




- Engage and build rapport with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and other young people and staff in a culturally safe manner to deliver high quality, person-centred and cutting-edge care
- Participate in health promotion/prevention programs and activities including planning, promotion, implementation and evaluation

- Understanding of the Youth Justice system with practical and conceptual knowledge of trends as they relate to health and social services
- Experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people including case management and care planning for people from diverse backgrounds experiencing hardship and/or barriers to accessing services.

All appointments are made subject to a satisfactory Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC), a Working With Children Check (WWCC), complete a Pre-Employment Declaration Form, evidence of legal rights to work in Australia, and evidence of vaccination.

Successful applicants will be required to provide evidence of immunisation assessment including Influenza within 12 weeks of commencement (B). This is in accordance with the Victorian Minister of Health Mandatory Vaccination Orders and legislated requirement for influenza vaccination.
