We are seeking a hands-on Company Accountant to join our Brisbane-based construction business.This role sits between a Senior Bookkeeper, Company Accountant and Management Accountant position.
It would suit someone who is comfortable managing the day-to-day finance function while also preparing useful month-end reporting for management and shareholders.You will be responsible for managing the company bookkeeper, finalising end-of-month costs, assisting with progress claims and accounts receivable, preparing balance sheet reporting, and helping ensure project costs are accurately captured and reported.The role is well suited to someone with experience in construction, civil construction, subcontracting, project accounting or job-costing environments.Key Responsibilities Will IncludeManaging, training and supporting the company bookkeeperOverseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable and bookkeeping processesAssisting with progress claims,



client invoicing and accounts receivable follow-upReviewing supplier and subcontractor invoices for correct job-cost allocationFinalising end-of-month project costsPreparing monthly management reports for directors and shareholdersPreparing balance sheet reconciliations and balance sheet reportingAssisting with cashflow forecasting and short-term cash managementMonitoring project costs, margins and cost-to-complete informationTracking retentions, accruals, prepayments and month-end adjustmentsSupporting BAS, IAS, payroll tax and superannuation complianceAssisting with payroll oversight where requiredMaintaining accurate records across Financial SystemsWorking with external accountants and advisors when requiredImproving finance processes, reporting templates and internal controlsThe ideal candidate will have solid bookkeeping and accounting experience, positive commercial awareness, and the ability to turn financial information into explicit reporting for management.Construction experience is highly preferred.
Experience with Premier Construction Software, Xero, JobPac or similar accounting systems will be highly regarded.An accounting, commerce or business degree is preferred, but not essential for the right person.
CA/CPA qualifications are not required, but would also be highly regarded.
