Kingston State College is seeking a School Support Officer to join the team!

This position supports student engagement, attendance and wellbeing by supervising students, promoting positive behaviour, and assisting with school programs and student support initiatives.

This position is being offered in a Temporary Full-Time capacity (0.95 FTE), 72.5 hours per fortnight until 11-December 2026.

This temporary vacancy is open to Expressions of Interest and any extensions to this appointment will not exceed 12 months.

Who We Are

Kingston State College is one of Logan's leading bespoke co-educational Independent public schools.

Our College consists of a 7-12 High School with 800 students and the Kingston Learning College with 230 students completing 1-3 subjects from years 10-12.

We provide a variety of learning opportunities to suit individual needs.

Both our campuses accept enrolments from all areas as there is no management plan in place for the College.

Step Into Your Next Chapter

- In consultation with the Heads of Year be involved in programs under the direction of the assigned teacher to supervise students.
- Participate in regular monitoring, through observation and evaluation, the effectiveness of programs in improving student outcomes.
- Refer students to school support services staff and other personnel as required.
- Maintain quality in the performance of all duties, ensuring adherence to methods,



guidelines and procedures while continually seeking improvements in the way work is undertaken.

It would be highly desirable to have the following skills and experience:

- Solid interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with young people.
- Experience working with children and young people, particularly those requiring additional support with engagement, behaviour or attendance.
- The ability to remain calm, resilient and professional in challenging situations.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A commitment to inclusive practices and culturally responsive approaches.
- Previous experience in a school, youth work, community services or behaviour support setting.
- Knowledge of restorative practices and positive behaviour support strategies.
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and communities.
