About The Role

Our client is a large Australian retail business, running a significant customer-facing digital ecosystems across web and app. Their team supports the business through a multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists and analysts, and is the central point for all data-related work across the organisation.

We are looking for a Data Engineer to join their team. You will work day to day alongside a Senior Data Engineer on a project that brings user event data from Adobe into Google Cloud, building the pipelines and governance layer that allow analysts to trust and report on that data with confidence. This is a mid-level, hands-on engineering role rather than a leadership or architecture-design position, with direction and work allocation provided by the Senior Data Engineer.

What You'll Be Doing

- Building and maintaining data pipelines that ingest user event data from Adobe into Google Cloud Platform.
- Working within a medallion architecture to improve data governance, monitoring and the overall accuracy and reliability of downstream reporting.
- Supporting the production of data pipelines, following direction from the Senior Data Engineer.
- Collaborating with analysts, project managers and other engineers to help shape and deliver against the project roadmap.
- Picking up and working across a contemporary cloud data stack,



including tools you may not have used before.
- Gaining exposure to adjacent machine learning pipeline work as opportunities arise.

About You

- Solid core data engineering experience, with a strong understanding of SQL
- Experience with, or strong working knowledge of, Google Cloud Platform, Python and Big Query.
- Exposure to DBT is well regarded; experience with Airflow and/or Vertex AI is a plus but not essential, as ongoing tool exposure is part of the role.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across stakeholders of varying technical backgrounds, from engineers to analysts to project managers.
- An interest in, and comfort with, working alongside AI tools as part of day-to-day delivery.
