GTNTGroup is proud to partner with Power and Water Corporation to offer an exciting traineeship prospect with the NT's largest electrical and water provider. We are currently seeking to employ an Apprentice Cable Jointer hosted by Power Water Corporation in Darwin.
In this paid apprenticeship, you will gain hands on experience while completing a nationally recognised Certificate III in ESI - Distribution Underground (UET30821). Undertaking duties such as install, repair and maintain underground cables, ensuring the safe and reliable distribution of electricity.

Through on-the-job training you'll acquire a diverse set of skills and expertise, including laying, installing, and maintaining both low and high voltage underground cables, along with the installation and upkeep of electrical equipment.

Underground Cable Jointers spend a significant amount of time in restricted spaces like trenches, pits and tunnels. They also work in a high‐risk workplace, so a safety-first attitude is essential.

Qualification Description





This qualification provides the skills and knowledge to work in the Electricity Supply Industry (ESI) as a Distribution Underground Cable Jointer. This qualification covers the installation and maintenance of Low Voltage (LV) and High Voltage (HV) underground cables, services and electrical equipment.

Nominal Duration: This qualification has a set nominal duration of 48 months. This is the amount of time you need to be committed to, for successful completion of this qualification

Registered Training Organisation (RTO)

Off‐the‐job training is provided by Energy Skills International Pty Ltd. As the RTO is located interstate, Apprentices will be required to travel interstate to complete their scheduled trade school training throughout the apprenticeship.

To be successful in this role, you will have/be

- Driver's Licence (preferably manual)
- A good level of Maths and English
- Self-motivated with a genuine desire to learn and work in a team environment
- Demonstrated commitment to safety awareness and performance
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol testing
- Ability to obtain a Police Check.
