Mechanical Engineer – Part-Time / Flexible Hours | WA Mining & Construction Sector
/n
PERSOL is partnering with an industry leader in excavator and skid steer attachments, fixed rockbreaker boom systems, and automation solutions for the WA mining and construction sector. This role involves providing technical and engineering support to a key client while collaborating with a skilled in-house engineering team.
/n
Role Overview:
/n
This position involves working both at the company office and at a client's engineering office in Perth. You will be the first point of contact for technical queries from the client, supporting design improvements, upgrades, and equipment evaluation.
The role is 24 hours per week, with flexible scheduling to suit school hours or other commitments.
/n
Key Responsibilities:
/n
/n
- Provide technical advice and engineering support to a major client, both on-site and remotely.
/n
- Collaborate with in-house engineers and designers to safely introduce new technologies at client sites.
/n
- Gather and act on customer feedback to identify opportunities for improvement.
/n
- Support design tasks and ensure accurate documentation and timely completion.
/n
- Assess equipment during re-builds and suggest cost-effective improvements.
/n
- Continuously refine systems and methods for efficient service delivery.
/n
- Attend sales, engineering, and project meetings as required.
/n
- Execute design activities following company guidelines, standards, and specifications.
/n
- Assist in creating and improving manuals, work packs, commissioning procedures, and training materials.
/n
- Provide guidance and training to Project Management, Sales, Estimating, and Workshop teams.
/n
- Coordinate and attend client update meetings and initiate Engineering Change Requests as needed.
/n/n
Essential Skills and Experience:
/n
/n
- Minimum 6 years' experience in mechanical engineering design or project engineering within mining or heavy industry.
/n
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project.
/n
- Robust organizational, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
/n
- Experience in hydraulic equipment design and manufacture.
/n
- Background in Reliability Engineering.
/n/n

- Comply with established workplace procedures and guidelines.
/n
- Identify and notify management of any unsafe conditions or hazards.
/n
- Ensure correct use of personal protective equipment.
/n
- Immediately report injuries, hazards, or illnesses.

- Maintain professional and timely interactions with customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
/n

Work Location & Hours:
/n
/n
- Perth-based, 24 hours per week (flexible schedule).
/n
- Split between company office and client site (e.g., 8 hours in-house, 16 hours at client office).
