We are looking for a proactive and experienced Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Advisor to join our team and help us drive a positive, proactive safety culture across our operations.
The Role
As our new HSE Advisor, you will be based on‑site at a BHP operation in Newman, acting as the driving force behind our safety initiatives on the ground. You will work closely with site management and frontline workers to ensure compliance, deliver vital training, and continuously improve our HSE management systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor HSE policies and procedures across the BHP Newman site.
- Deliver comprehensive on‑site training, inductions, and competency assessments to staff and contractors.
- Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate hazards.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Provide expert HSE advice and support to project managers and site supervisors.
- Foster a proactive safety culture where every team member feels empowered to speak up about safety.
About You (Key Requirements)
- Full working rights in Australia.
- Formal qualification in Training and Assessing (e.g., Certificate IV in Training and Assessment – TAE, or equivalent).
- Immediate availability (must be able to start before July 31st).
- HSE qualification: Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety (WHS/OHS) or a related field.
- Proven experience working as an HSE Advisor, preferably in a project‑based, mining, or industrial environment.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and educate workers at all levels.
