About Parks & Recreation

The Parks & Recreation Team are thesecret behind the Toowoomba Region’s beautiful parks and gardens.With over 7000 hectares of public gardens, bushland park,sports and recreation facilities and other open space and anextensive urban forest, the Toowoomba region is well known for itsliveability and green infrastructure. The Parks and RecreationServices Branch is responsible for planning, developing andmaintaining our beautiful green infrastructure, some of which isheritage listed, and keeping up with the strong growth across theregion. The team is a diverse mix of approximately 200 peopleworking as labourers, gardeners, arborists, horticulturalists,plant operators, rangers, cleaners, project managers, landscapearchitects, administrators, regulators and their managers andleaders.

About the position

Working as an Arborist, you willassist with the maintenance of tree assets within the Region andperform an extensive range of specialist tasks using recognisedarboricultural practices.

In this position you will workunder remote supervision.

What you'll bring

- Current MR ClassManual Driver’s Licence is mandatory.
- WHS Competency (WhiteCard ) for CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in theconstruction industry, or equivalent, or a willingness toobtain prior to commencement.
- Possession of a recognisedcertification in Arboriculture or Horticulture is highlydesirable.
- Chainsaw Tickets Level 1 and 2is highly desirable.
- EWP (Elevating Work Platform)Licence is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated skills andability to perform the required work safely, taking intoaccount the physical nature of the role.
- Experience working at heightsfrom an elevated work platform.
- Teamwork, interpersonal andcommunication skills.





The preferred candidate will be required toundertake a Criminal History Check and a pre-employment medicalassessment to assess their ability to perform the genuineoccupational requirements of the position.
