Job Description
As an Assistant Manager within the Business Advisory division, the role forms part of the broader leadership group and works closely with Directors, Managers and the Business Advisory team to provide clients with technical advice and guidance across accounting, compliance and advisory services. The role is responsible for delivering exceptional client service by developing a strong understanding of each client’s circumstances and supporting the smooth running of the Business Advisory team.

As an Assistant Manager within the Business Advisory division, the role forms part of the broader leadership group and works closely with Directors, Managers and the Business Advisory team to provide clients with technical advice and guidance across accounting, compliance and advisory services. The role is responsible for delivering exceptional client service by developing a strong understanding of each client’s circumstances and supporting the smooth running of the Business Advisory team.
Job Requirements
- At least 5 years’ experience in skilled services, with a strong focus on tax and accounting
- Experience working with larger client groups and complex business structures, including multiple entities and technically complex matters
- Demonstrated experience managing workflow, deadlines, budgets and client deliverables
- Exposure to people management, including supporting, guiding and developing junior team members
- Broad experience across accounting and tax matters, including income tax, CGT, FBT, GST, payroll tax, entity structures, Division 7A, consolidation, tax effect accounting, superannuation and transfer pricing
- Basic exposure to more complex tax areas such as international tax, TOFA, thin capitalisation and country-by-country reporting
- Experience building client relationships, identifying business development opportunities and contributing to fee growth through existing client relationships
- Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) or similar undergraduate degree.
- Professional certification – Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) or equivalent and supporting professional development including maintaining the required CPD hours.
Job Responsibilities
- Client Service and Advisory
- Provide technical advice and guidance to clients across accounting, compliance and advisory matters.
- Develop an in-depth understanding of each client’s circumstances to support the delivery of tailored services.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the external business environment, including political, social, economic and demographic trends, as well as industry-specific developments
- Workflow Management
- Monitor workflow across the Business Advisory team.
- Disseminate information internally and to clients as required.
- Advise Directors on the progress of current work
- Team Leadership and Support
- Work collaboratively with Managers to guide and lead the Business Advisory team.
- Support the team to ensure internal and external stakeholder expectations are met.
- Guide and assist junior team members.
- Provide clear direction, training and day-to-day support to team members
- Firm Contribution
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships across the organisation.
- Contribute to the culture of the team and broader firm by actively participating in firm-wide events and initiatives.
- Participate in client functions, training, social commitments and peer group facilitation.
- Contribute to the improvement of firm processes and technical development through involvement in committees and internal training
