The Role

Lead and shape the commercial success of Tas Water’s capital works programme.

As our Project Commercial Lead, you will play a pivotal role in driving value, quality, and performance across our capital delivery activities. You will guide commercial strategy, oversee contract administration, strengthen partner relationships, and contribute to systems that ensure commercial excellence.

In this role you will:

- Lead commercial management activities across Project Delivery’s capital works programme.
- Build and maintain solid relationships with suppliers, partners, and internal teams.
- Oversee contract administration, ensuring compliance, value for money, and clear performance expectations.
- Manage and assess claims, support dispute resolution, and advise on mitigation strategies.
- Contribute to commercial systems, reporting dashboards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Foster a collaborative and high‑performance team culture aligned with Tas Water’s values.

What we're looking for





We’re seeking a proactive commercial leader who brings strong judgement, relationship capability, and a passion for driving value in complex project environments.

You will bring:

- Experience in commercial management, contract administration, or procurement in a project or infrastructure environment.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to translate complex commercial issues into practical actions.
- Confident communication and stakeholder engagement skills across a range of internal and external groups.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to build productive partnerships.
- Proven ability to deliver to deadlines in a fast‑paced delivery environment.
- Tertiary qualifications in Law, Business, Commerce, Accounting, Construction, or Project Management (or equivalent).
- Experience in the utilities sector.
- Ability to drive innovation and continuous improvement in commercial and contract processes.
- Commitment to safety, quality, sustainability, and positive team culture
- Experience administrating NEC4 contracts

The Details

This role can be based in either Hobart, Launceston, or Devonport and attracts a salary of $157,359 - $174,843 (inclusive of superannuation)
