Casual Funeral Director's Assistant

Holy Cross Funerals provides funeral services in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Ipswich, Toowoomba and surrounding areas. We serve families of all Christian denominations, ensuring funeral rites are carried out with dignity, love and worship.

We are seeking a Casual Funeral Director's Assistant for our North Brisbane location. The successful applicant will support funeral services, assist families, and maintain high standards of presentation and communication.

Key Duties

- General assistance on all funeral services
- Vehicle cleaning and maintenance
- Driving funeral vehicles – hearses and transfer van
- Transfers of deceased persons from hospitals, nursing homes and residences
- Participation in an after‑hours roster (must live within 30 minutes of the funeral home)
- Support families and attendees at funeral services
- Frequent manual handling and lifting
- Maintain high personal hygiene standards

Qualifications





- Understanding of funeral service industry operations or ability to acquire industry knowledge quickly
- Receptive to on‑the‑job mentoring, direction and training within a wider team
- Professional conduct, respectful to the public across diverse cultures
- Ability to work under pressure while remaining warm and approachable
- Current and unrestricted full driver’s licence
- Willingness to work within the mission and vision of the Catholic Church
- Blue Card and valid Working with Children check
- National criminal history/police check
