HIA Apprentices is Australia's leading employer of apprentices in the residential building industry. We connect apprentices with quality host businesses and provide ongoing mentoring, support, and training throughout their apprenticeship journey.

We are seeking a motivated and relationship-focused Group Training Field Officer to join our team servicing the Gold Coast and Northern Rivers region.

This is an autonomous and rewarding role where you'll work closely with apprentices, host employers, schools, training providers and industry stakeholders to support apprentice success while driving growth opportunities for HIA Apprentices.

About the Role

As a Group Training Field Officer, you will be responsible for recruiting new host employers and apprentices, maintaining strong client relationships, providing mentoring and support services, and ensuring apprentices and hosts receive a high level of service throughout the apprenticeship journey.

You will spend much of your time working directly with apprentices and host businesses across the region, conducting site visits, providing guidance and counselling, undertaking workplace assessments, and identifying new business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities Business Development & Recruitment

- Identify and secure new host employer opportunities across the residential building industry
- Recruit quality apprentices to meet workforce and growth requirements
- Promote HIA Apprentices to prospective host businesses and industry stakeholders




- Represent HIA Apprentices at trade nights, career expos, school events and industry functions
- Conduct regular field visits with apprentices and host employers
- Provide mentoring, coaching and support to apprentices throughout their employment
- Monitor workplace performance and training progression
- Conduct workplace assessments in line with funding and compliance requirements
- Coordinate host rotations where required
- Provide advice regarding training agreements and apprenticeship obligations

Stakeholder Engagement

- Build and maintain effective relationships with:
- Host employers
- Schools and career advisers
- Training organisations
- Industry associations
- Government and community stakeholders

Compliance & Administration

- Maintain accurate records using internal systems
- Ensure field visits and reporting requirements are completed within required timeframes
- Support compliance with WHS and apprenticeship requirements
- Assist with disciplinary, performance management and counselling processes when required

About You

- Demonstrated ability to generate and secure new business opportunities
- Robust interpersonal, communication and relationship-building skills
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities
- Confidence working independently and managing your own schedule
- Professional approach with sound judgement and decision-making capability
- Strong administration and computer skills
- Understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
- Ability to engage effectively with apprentices, employers and industry stakeholders
- Current driver's licence
- Ability to obtain or hold a Working with Children Check and National Police Check

Highly Regarded

- Knowledge of the apprenticeship or Group Training Organisation (GTO) sector
- Understanding of apprenticeship awards, wages and employment conditions
- Residential building industry experience
- Trade qualifications in a building-related trade Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
