An exciting chance exists for an experienced Lifecycle Costing Engineer to support a complex defence SATCOM sustainment program. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, reliability, maintenance, and operational support, ensuring that key design and business decisions are informed by robust lifecycle cost analysis.
The successful candidate will develop and maintain lifecycle cost models, analyse performance and maintenance data, and provide insights that optimise asset performance, reduce total cost of ownership, and improve long-term customer outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and enhance Life Cycle Cost (LCC) models for satellite ground stations and associated systems.
- Evaluate Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) including capital investment, maintenance labour, spare parts, equipment downtime, overhaul programs, and end-of-life considerations.
- Produce Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) artefacts including:
- ILS Plans
- LORA (Level of Repair Analysis)
- RAM (Reliability, Availability & Maintainability)
- Provisioning documentation
- Contract deliverables (CDRLs)
- Analyse field data, warranty information and service histories to identify major lifecycle cost drivers and improvement opportunities.
- Work closely with maintenance and service teams to validate labour estimates, maintenance intervals, tooling requirements and overhaul strategies.
- Support the development of preventive maintenance and component replacement strategies based on lifecycle cost trade-off analysis.
- Provide lifecycle costing inputs to commercial, pricing and customer-facing activities.
- Prepare clear reports and presentations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Continuously improve costing methodologies, assumptions, and data quality using industry best practice.
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:
- Degree qualification in Engineering, Finance, or a related discipline.
- 6+ years' experience in lifecycle costing, reliability engineering, maintenance engineering, cost analysis, or a related discipline within a defence environment.
- Experience developing lifecycle cost models and total cost of ownership assessments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex operational and engineering data.
- Understanding of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) methodologies and sustainment principles.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Ability to present technical findings and recommendations to diverse audiences.
