Hastings Deering is looking for an experienced Safety Advisor to join our Health, Safety & Sustainability division. This permanent, full-time role (Monday to Friday) is based out of our Cairns office. Reporting to the Safety Manager, the primary responsibility is to coordinate all aspects of Health, Safety, Sustainability & Risk Management for Hastings Deering employees working within our operations teams.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert advice and assistance to facilitate a safe working environment and ensure work practices comply with Company policy and recognised and legislated Work Health & Safety regulations and procedures.
- Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment or practices to ensure compliance.
- Assist in the maintenance and optimisation of the Safety Management System in accordance with Hastings Deering and legislative requirements.
- Facilitate Incident Cause Analysis Method (ICAM) investigations as required.
- Coordinate incident investigation, reporting and corrective actions.
- Ensure environmental policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Develop and implement site‑specific safety strategies and initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills
- Formal qualification(s) in Work Health and Safety (minimum Certificate IV in Workplace Health & Safety) HLTPAT005.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (desirable).
- Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role.
- Incident investigation and reporting experience.
- Desirable: Specimen collection for drug of abuse testing.
