Role Overview
Senior Clinical Trainer – Youth Justice (VPS 4) based in Melbourne CBD with regular travel to regional offices. The role delivers clinical training, skill building and coaching to Youth Justice frontline staff across custodial, community, court and regional settings, incorporating multicultural and multifaith perspectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver clinical training sessions to custodial, community, court and regional Youth Justice staff.
- Plan, adapt and deliver learning sessions using evidence‑based practices including CBT and Motivational Interviewing.
- Provide coaching and constructive feedback to embed skills and practices in the workplace.
- Respond to participant disclosures, balancing individual support with cohort psychological safety and facilitating referrals to wellbeing services.
- Exercise professional judgment to develop and adapt targeted learning interventions within departmental guidelines.
- Co‑design and continuously improve training materials in collaboration with staff.
Qualifications and Experience
- A relevant qualification in psychology, social work or a related field, supported by demonstrated experience applying professional knowledge in practice.
- Robust experience delivering training that builds deep multicultural and multifaith understanding in diverse youth justice cohorts.
- Proficiency in evidence‑based practices such as CBT and Motivational Interviewing, with ability to translate into practical, skills‑based training.
- Experience coaching operational staff and providing feedback to embed essential skills.
- Capacity to adapt facilitation style and content to diverse audiences and operational settings across multiple locations.
- Undergraduate degree in psychology, social work or a related field (required).
Additional Requirements
- Valid vehicle registration (driver’s licence) – role involves regular travel.
- Current Working with Children Check, to be maintained during employment.
