North Perth

Full-Time | Perth North of the River | $70,000 Base Salary plus Super + Quarterly Bonuses

Your New Company:
Join one of the larger and longest-established retail stores operating within its sector.
This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a stable and well-regarded business with an established customer base and a strong presence in the local market.
The store owner provides ongoing support and guidance while allowing the Store Manager the independence and autonomy to manage the daily operations of the store. The owner is not involved in the hands-on, day-to-day running of the store, making this role ideal for a capable retail professional who enjoys taking responsibility and confidently leading a team.
A comprehensive handover and training period will be provided by the owner from 1 September 2026, allowing the successful candidate to become familiar with the store, team and operational processes.

Your New Role:
This is a hands-on Retail Store Manager position requiring strong leadership, sound judgement and the ability to manage the store independently.
You will be responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the store, supporting and developing approximately 20 employees, and ensuring customers consistently receive a high standard of service.
Many of the current employees are school students and university students. The successful candidate will therefore need to provide clear direction, practical training and ongoing guidance to help employees develop confidence and perform their duties effectively.

Responsibilities will include:

- Managing the smooth day-to-day operation of the retail store
- Leading, supporting and motivating a team of approximately 20 employees
- Training, coaching and guiding school and university students
- Setting clear expectations and ensuring employees understand their responsibilities
- Maintaining high standards of customer service
- Ensuring the store remains organised, welcoming and professionally presented
- Monitoring employee performance and addressing operational concerns
- Handling short-notice employee absences and arranging appropriate staff coverage

- Responding calmly and practically to unexpected staffing or operational challenges
- Supporting employees during busy trading periods
- Ensuring company procedures, policies and service standards are consistently followed
- Managing customer queries, concerns and escalations professionally
- Communicating regularly with the store owner regarding important operational matters
- Taking responsibility for the overall performance and effective functioning of the store

The store owner will remain responsible for ordering stock and preparing employee rosters. However, the Store Manager will be expected to manage short-notice staffing shortages and make practical decisions to ensure the store remains appropriately staffed.
This is a full-time position working 38 hours per week.

Your Profile:
You are an experienced Retail Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager or retail team leader who is ready to take ownership of a store and manage its daily operations with confidence.
You are independent, dependable and comfortable making decisions without requiring constant supervision. At the same time, you value having access to an experienced and supportive business owner when guidance is required.
You are naturally organised, approachable and able to lead employees with fairness, professionalism and consistency. You enjoy training and developing younger employees and understand the importance of providing clear instructions, encouragement and constructive feedback.
You remain calm under pressure and can respond quickly when staffing or operational challenges arise.

As well as this, you will have:

- Previous retail management or senior retail leadership experience
- Strong team leadership and employee management skills
- The ability to train, guide and develop less-experienced employees

- The ability to work independently and take ownership of store operations
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- The ability to manage short-notice staffing shortages
- Solid problem-solving and decision-making ability
- A practical and solutions-focused approach
- Good organisational and time-management skills
- Confidence managing customer concerns and operational issues
- The ability to communicate effectively with employees and the business owner
- A reliable, professional and hands-on approach
- Full working rights in Australia and driver's licence

Previous retail merchandising experience would be an added advantage but is not essential.
Experience managing a busy retail environment and leading a young or diverse team will be highly regarded.
