About the Opportunity

We are seeking an enthusiastic lawyer with previous experience in corporate law to join our Corporate Commercial team on a permanent full-time basis. This role will, in particular, support our client base of First Nations organisations and businesses throughout WA and beyond.

This is the perfect opportunity for a lawyer with approximately two years’ post-admission experience who is interested in applying their existing corporate commercial expertise towards the advancement of First Nations communities and their organisations, along with our other not-for-profit clients.

Key Responsibilities

- Advise on a wide range of matters, including governance and compliance, corporate structuring, charity law, general commercial contracting, and transactions;
- Assist clients with rule book and constitution reviews, development of trust deeds and policies, directors’ duties and conduct matters;
- Detailed interpretation and application of the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 (Cth);
- Negotiate, draft, review and advise on a diverse range of commercial agreements; and
- Act as a trusted advisor with clients including prescribed bodies corporate, Aboriginal community-controlled organisations, Aboriginal businesses, Aboriginal community benefits trusts, trustee, companies and government bodies.

About You

Our ideal candidate will have a commercial approach and be able to demonstrate the following attributes, skills and abilities:

- A minimum of 1.5 years post-admission experience, specifically in corporate and commercial front end work;
- A passion for supporting the advancement of First Nations communities and their organisations;
- High legal standards, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong organisational skills with the ability and commitment to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities; and
- A collaborative attitude and approach, as well as a desire to learn.
