The business is committed to honest advice, dependable service and quality workmanship, using modern diagnostic equipment to accurately assess vehicles and deliver safe, reliable and long-term mechanical solutions for customers across a wide range of vehicles.
The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Inspect vehicles and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using up-to-date diagnostic equipment.
- Service, maintain and repair petrol engines and associated mechanical components.
- Dismantle and remove engines, transmissions, steering systems and related vehicle assemblies.
- Repair or replace worn, damaged and defective mechanical and electrical components.
- Reassemble engines and mechanical parts following repairs and component replacement.
- Perform scheduled servicing, including oil changes, lubrication and engine tune-ups.
- Test and adjust repaired mechanical components to ensure safe and reliable performance.
- Diagnose vehicle faults using computer-assisted testing equipment and manufacturer specifications.
- Inspect braking, suspension, steering and transmission systems for faults and wear.
- Refer to service manuals and technical information when completing complex repairs.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, servicing, repairs and replacement parts.
- Explain identified faults, recommended repairs and maintenance requirements clearly to customers.
- Ensure completed repairs meet workshop, safety, performance and environmental standards.
- Maintain workshop tools, equipment and work areas in safe operating condition.
- Assist with roadworthiness inspections and identify work required to achieve compliance.
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:
- AQF Certificate III and Certificate IV qualifications in Automotive Mechanical Technology or a closely related field.
- At least 1 year of relevant on-the-job training and practical motor mechanic experience.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using modern computer-assisted diagnostic equipment.
- Strong experience servicing and repairing engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, braking and related vehicle systems.
- Sound knowledge of scheduled maintenance, engine tune-ups, lubrication procedures and vehicle performance testing.
- Ability to interpret service manuals, technical specifications and manufacturer repair procedures accurately and safely.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety, environmental requirements and professional automotive workshop practices.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to explain vehicle faults and recommended repairs professionally.
